DIN 1.2080 (EN X210Cr12 / AISI D3 / JIS SKD1) is a high-carbon, high-chromium ledeburitic cold work tool steel. It contains about 12% chromium and about 2.0% carbon. It is known for excellent wear resistance and high compressive strength. This product is produced by professional forging plants using open-die forging or die forging. It is suitable for making cold work dies and tools used under high wear and high pressure.
Jiangyin Eternal Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. is a Chinese manufacturer that focuses on producing DIN 1.2080 round bars. The company has mastered forging and heat treatment processes. With a forging ratio of ≥ 3:1, it ensures a dense internal structure and uniform carbide distribution. The quenched hardness of DIN 1.2080 round bars can reach 64–66 HRC, and the compressive strength is very high. Its wear resistance is better than similar 1.2379 steel, making it suitable for high-wear conditions.

Are DIN 1.2080 and AISI D3 the same material?
Yes. DIN 1.2080 (X210Cr12) and AISI D3, JIS SKD1, and GB Cr12 belong to the same class of high-carbon, high-chromium cold work tool steels. Their chemical composition and properties are highly similar, and they can be used interchangeably in most applications.
What is the delivery condition of 1.2080 forged round bars?
The standard delivery condition is soft annealed, with a hardness of ≤ 248 HBW, which facilitates subsequent machining. Pre-hardened or quenched and tempered conditions can also be supplied upon customer request.
What hardness can 1.2080 achieve after heat treatment?
After quenching, the hardness can reach 64–66 HRC (oil quenching). After tempering, the hardness can be adjusted within the range of 42–64 HRC depending on the tempering temperature. The recommended tempering temperature is 220–260°C, corresponding to a hardness of 60–62 HRC. This condition provides the best combination of wear resistance and toughness.
Is 1.2080 suitable as a substitute for 1.2379 (D2)?
In applications requiring higher wear resistance, 1.2080 is a better choice than 1.2379. Its wear resistance is significantly better, making it especially suitable for high-wear conditions such as shear blades. However, note that 1.2080 has slightly lower toughness than 1.2379 and is somewhat more difficult to grind. Material selection should be balanced according to the specific working conditions.
Do you support custom cutting and machining?
Yes. We can provide cut-to-length, rough turning, grinding/polishing, drilling, milling, and other processing services. The delivery lead time is usually 15–30 working days, depending on specifications and quantity.
Is a mill certificate provided?
Yes. Each batch is supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 mill certificate, including chemical composition, mechanical properties, and heat treatment reports, ensuring traceability of product quality.
What are the delivery time and shipping methods?
For standard specifications in stock, the delivery time is 7–15 days; for custom forged products, it is 20–40 days. We support FOB, CIF, DDP, and other trade terms. Sea freight, air freight, or express delivery are available.
