Eternal
DC53 die steel forgings are a high-performance cold-work tool steel developed by Daido Steel Co., Ltd. in Japan. They are an improved version of SKD11 steel, with better chemistry and heat treatment.
Jiangyin Eternal Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. uses advanced forging processes and repeated multi-directional upsetting and drawing techniques to produce DC53 steel plates, round bars, and various forgings. Their products have a dense internal structure and evenly distributed carbides. This solves the problems of uneven properties and early failure caused by low forging ratios in traditional die steels.
After standard heat treatment, DC53 forgings can reach a hardness of 62–64 HRC. Their impact toughness is twice that of SKD11 (Cr12MoV). They keep high hardness while also offering excellent resistance to chipping and cracking. That makes them an ideal choice for demanding applications such as precision stamping dies, cold forging dies, and punches.
The chemical composition of our company's DC53 forgings is strictly controlled within the following range, ensuring consistent and stable material performance.
Element | C | Si | Mn | Cr | Mo | V | P | S |
% | 0.90-1.05 | 0.80-1.10 | 0.20-0.50 | 7.50-8.50 | 1.80-2.10 | 0.15-0.35 | ≤0.030 | ≤0.015 |
Component advantages: The higher content of molybdenum (Mo) enhances the hardenability and temper stability of the material; the addition of vanadium (V) refines the grain structure and improves wear resistance; chromium (Cr) ensures sufficient hardenability and corrosion resistance.

Annealing | The calcination is carried out at 850 ± 10℃, which is uniform. The temperature is then controlled to cool down at a rate of no more than 30℃/h until it reaches 550℃, after which it is taken out of the furnace and allowed to cool | ≤255HBW |
Quenching | 550℃、850℃ Two preheating processes,1020-1040℃ oil cooling or wind cooling | 61-63HRC |
Low tempering | 180-200℃×2h,tempering twice | 62-63HRC |
High tempering | 520-530℃×2h,tempering 2 to 3 times | 62-64HRC |
Electric arc furnace (EAF) + LF refining + VD vacuum degassing. For high-end requirements, electroslag remelting (ESR) can be adopted to enhance purity.
The initial forging temperature is 1100℃, and the final forging temperature is 900℃.
The annealing process is generally spherical annealing.
Our company has established a complete quality traceability system. Before each batch of DC53 forgings leaves the factory, they undergo strict inspections.

1. Remove inner defects, make structure denser
Forging breaks the big grains left from casting and welds inner holes and pores. This makes the steel much tighter. Our company uses a forging ratio of 4 or more and three-direction forging, which helps make the material more uniform in all directions.
2. Carbides spread evenly, stop early failure
Repeated upsetting and drawing forging breaks up carbides and spreads them out well. This stops big carbide clusters from forming, which can cause stress points and cracking. The microstructure shows fine, round carbides spread evenly.
3. Good isotropy, longer service life
Good forging greatly reduces differences in material properties in different directions. So the mold works more consistently no matter which way the force comes from. This lowers the risk of chipping and breaking during use.
4. Flexible sizes, custom-made to drawings
We offer DC53 forged plates (thickness 150–400 mm), forged round bars (diameter can be customized), and various special-shaped forgings. We accept orders made to your drawings and cut the material to your needs.

Solving the industry's main problems
Problem 1: Mold chipping and breaking → DC53 forgings have twice the toughness of SKD11, greatly improving resistance to chipping and cracking.
Problem 2: Early failure from carbide segregation → Three-direction forging ensures carbides are evenly spread out.
Problem 3: Hard to tell real from fake materials → Full-process test reports and material certificates give 100% genuine product guarantee.
Problem 4: Poor dimensional accuracy → Integrated forging and finishing services give you precise and controlled sizes.
