The D2 Forged Push Sleeve (Ejector Sleeve) is a precision-engineered mold component designed for reliable part ejection in plastic injection molding, die casting, and compression molding applications. Manufactured from premium AISI D2 tool steel (equivalent to DIN 1.2379, JIS SKD11), this ejector sleeve delivers exceptional wear resistance, high hardness, and superior dimensional stability under demanding production conditions.
Unlike standard ejector pins, the ejector sleeve is a hollow cylindrical component that surrounds a core pin and applies ejection force evenly around circular or hollow geometries. This design is particularly critical for ejecting parts with deep bosses, through-holes, or complex internal features where solid pins cannot be used.
The D2 forged push sleeves produced by Jiangyin Eternal Heavy Industry Co.,Ltd are hot-forged using proprietary techniques to ensure uniform grain flow and maximum structural integrity, delivering reliable performance across thousands of production cycles.
D2 is a high-carbon, high-chromium (11–13%) air-hardening cold-work tool steel, making it the ideal material choice for ejector sleeves and push sleeves:
Property | Specification |
Hardness (Heat Treated) | 58–62 HRC |
Wear Resistance | Excellent – large chromium-rich carbides in microstructure |
Toughness | Good balance with wear resistance |
Heat Resistance | Stable up to 400°C |
Thermal Conductivity | ~23.0 W/(m·K) |
Elastic Modulus | ~180,000 MPa |
DIN Equivalent | 1.2379 |
JIS Equivalent | SKD11 |
The high chromium content provides outstanding resistance to abrasive wear from sliding contact with mold surfaces and molding materials. The air-hardening characteristic ensures minimal distortion during heat treatment, maintaining critical dimensional tolerances.
Hot-forged heads provide uniform grain flow and higher tensile strength compared to machined-from-bar alternatives.
Forging temperature controlled within 1050°C – 850°C for optimal metallurgical properties.
Proprietary forging techniques ensure consistent quality and structural integrity.
Centerless ground and polished outer diameter for smooth operation and minimized wear.
Precision-honed inside bearing diameter.
Surface finish可达 Ra 0.2–0.4 μm for reduced friction and extended service life.
Concentricity maintained within ±0.01 mm.
3. Heat Treatment & Hardness
Through-hardened to 58–62 HRC on the shaft.
Cylindrical head hot-upset and annealed (HRC 45 +10/-5).
Double tempering for optimal toughness and stress relief.
Diameter tolerances maintained within ±0.005 mm.
Available in standard outer diameters from 6 mm to 50 mm.
Wall thicknesses between 1.5–5 mm.
