Eternal
H13 hot work tool steel (AISI H13 / DIN 1.2344 / JIS SKD61 / GB 4Cr5MoSiV1) is the most widely used chromium-based hot work die steel in the global mold and die industry. It is specifically engineered for high-temperature forging, extrusion, and die casting applications where components are subjected to extreme thermal and mechanical stresses.
Jiangyin Eternal Heavy Industry Co., Ltd is the manufacturer of H13 forgings. Our H13 forging dies and extrusion dies are manufactured from premium-quality electro-slag remelted (ESR) steel, delivering superior cleanliness, improved toughness, and excellent isotropic properties. Whether you need hot forging dies for automotive components, extrusion dies for aluminum profiles, or die casting molds for non-ferrous metals, our H13 tool steel solutions provide the durability and performance you demand.
H13 forged steel resists softening at temperatures up to 550°C (1022°F) and maintains its mechanical properties in continuous hot work service. It withstands thermal cycling without significant loss of hardness or strength.
The unique combination of chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium provides outstanding resistance to thermal shock and heat checking – the primary failure modes in hot work tooling. This translates directly to longer die life and reduced downtime.
H13 forged steel offers an optimal balance of hardness and fracture toughness, even at elevated temperatures. The ESR refinement process enhances isotropic properties, ensuring consistent performance in all directions.
With high carbon and vanadium content, H13 forged steel provides excellent resistance to abrasive wear, extending tool life in high-volume production runs.
H13 forged steel can be machined, polished, and surface-treated (nitriding, chrome plating, PVD coating) to meet the most demanding surface finish requirements.
Our H13 tool steel complies with NADCA #207 specifications for Premium and Superior categories, as well as major automotive die tooling specifications.
The use of a high-purity slag system and precise control of the melting rate ensures the purity of the steel and the density of its microstructure.
Extrusion heating temperature: 1270 °C; forging ratio: ≥6.0; improved isotropy
The material was removed from the furnace twice, at 1050°C and 980°C, and quenched in water to 300–350°C, effectively suppressing the network-like precipitation of carbides.
Each batch is subjected to impact, hardness and microstructural testing in accordance with NADCA #207.
