Eternal
F92 power plant valves forged by Jiangyin Eternal Heavy Industry Co., Ltd.—critical high-temperature, high-pressure equipment specifically designed for ultra-supercritical coal-fired power units. Forged as a single piece from F92 martensitic heat-resistant steel (ASTM A182), these valves feature optimized tungsten (W) and molybdenum (Mo) content based on 9Cr steel, providing excellent high-temperature creep rupture strength and resistance to low-cycle thermal fatigue.
The F92 power plant valves can withstand temperatures up to 650°C and a CLASS 4500 pressure rating, meeting the demands of severe operating conditions such as 605°C/27.56 MPa. The optimized forging process effectively controls grain size and surface cracking, while heat treatments such as secondary tempering ensure microstructural stability. Choose forged F92 valves to provide reliable ultra-supercritical pressure containment for your power plant system.

The use of an electric arc furnace (EAF) combined with VODC vacuum refining and electroslag remelting (ESR) ensures low gas content (H ≤ 1.5 × 10⁻⁴, O ≤ 30 × 10⁻⁴) and high purity.
The forging ratio of the main cross-section should be ≥3 (for electroslag remelted ingots) or ≥4 (for non-electroslag remelted ingots) to ensure a dense and uniform microstructure.
By strictly adhering to the normalising and tempering process, a tempered martensitic microstructure with fine MX precipitation phases is achieved, with hardness precisely controlled between 178 and 260 HBW.
Ultrasonic testing shall be carried out on a piece-by-piece basis, with quality grades not lower than Grade 2 for individual defects, a reduction of 2 grades in the base wave, and Grade I for defects in dense areas. Acceptable grain size grades for F92: Grades 3 to 5.

In what operating conditions are F92 valves primarily used?
They are specifically designed for high-temperature, high-pressure steam pipelines in ultra-supercritical thermal power plants, with typical parameters of temperature ≤ 610°C and pressure ≥ 25 MPa (CLASS 4500). They are suitable for critical locations such as main steam drain and reheating pipelines, and serve as core pressure-bearing components that replace imported products.
What is the difference between F92 and F91 materials?
Compared to F91, F92 contains less molybdenum (Mo) and 1.8% more tungsten (W). Its creep rupture strength at 600°C is approximately 30% higher than that of F91. The yield strength has increased from 415 MPa to 440 MPa, making it suitable for power plants operating under higher parameters.
Why do F92 valves often fail to meet impact toughness standards after welding?
F92 has a high alloy content, making the heat-affected zone (HAZ) prone to coarse grain structure and quenched martensite during welding. This results in an impact toughness as low as 7–13 J/cm² (the standard requires approximately 40 J/cm²). Normalizing followed by tempering, along with a secondary tempering process, is required to completely eliminate coarse grains.
What are the advantages of forged F92 valves compared to cast ones?
Integral forging refines the grain structure and eliminates internal defects, avoiding potential casting issues such as porosity and shrinkage porosity. Combined with post-forging heat treatment to optimize the microstructure, this ensures the valve body remains structurally stable and crack-free under high-temperature, high-pressure, and alternating loads, resulting in a longer service life.
